Position Summary:  This position serves as a team member in the department of Undergraduate Admission.  The assistant director of transfer and international admission is responsible for growing Concordia's transfer student population while also recruiting a strategically important international population and supporting the overall enrollment objectives of the university.


  • Undergraduate degree with liberal arts background.
  • Student recruitment or related experience preferred.
  • Transfer recruitment experience preferred.
  • International work/life experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and passport.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Ability to travel, rent vehicles, drive in large cities and fly in commercial aircrafts.
  • Willingness and ability to travel abroad efficiently and productively for work related initiatives.  Travel abroad may span 2-3 weeks, twice per year.
  • Ability to speak a foreign language preferred.
  • Knowledge of SCT Banner software preferred; Proficiency in use of software applications including Microsoft applications, databases, spreadsheets and word processing required.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  • Member of LCMS congregation preferred.
  • Concordia University graduate preferred.

General Duties:

  • Participates in the overall planning of Concordia's comprehensive international, transfer and re-admit enrollment strategy.
  • Represents Concordia domestically and internationally at recruitment fairs and events, advising prospective international students and international partners regarding Concordia admission policies and procedures.
  • Develops and manages the international marketing strategy including communications, print and web advertising, and social media.
  • Cultivates new and existing relationships with international institutions, agencies and individuals, influencing students in making decisions to study abroad in the U.S.
  • Effectively communicates with and tracts prospective international students from inquiry to enrollment.
  • With supervision, devises, implements and assesses transfer recruitment plan and strategy to include visiting community colleges, attending transfer fairs, area receptions and events.
  • Initiates, plans and executes special on-campus enrollment-related events in coordination and admission office and campus faculty/staff for international transfer populations.
  • Recruits and monitors the application process for all international student types: undergraduate, IEP, Pathways, etc., and monitors all international student paperwork.
  • Evaluates international applicant files for admission recommendations.
  • Conducts student interviews (high school and transfer international students).
  • Develops and analyzes data of past productivity and recruitment projects and personal schedules to plan a strategy for cultivation new populations of students.
  • Exercises discretion and independent judgement in evaluation program effectiveness, assessing outcomes and developing improved programming.  Produces statistical reports and enrollment projections to key constituents.
  • Knows and understands all printed materials on admission and other office support systems such as registrar, financial aid and support services.
  • With Financial Aid office support, analyzes information regarding family income and assets to determine most appropriate financial aid and scholarship resources available to meet their needs and circumstances.  Presents interpretations of financial aid packages.
  • Is both available and accessible to incoming students and their parents to ease the transition from home to campus life; provides follow-up to students and parents via phone, letters, e-mail and scheduling of appointments.
  • Hires and manages student workforce to initiate communication such as phone calls, e-mails and letters to prospective students in managed territory. Takes the lead counselor role in improving the day-to-day training, supervision and direction for the student calling program.
